I’ve walked thousands of miles during my nine years in New York City. Having the freedom to explore the city on my own terms is empowering, but it’s a hassle when I need to wear the “right” shoes for working in an office or dancing at a party plus walking to get there. So I was intrigued by Pashion Footwear’s convertible shoes. One pair does it all, the company claims. You can simply swap between high heels and flats with a twist of the wrist. For the sake of my always-sore feet and an easier commute, I wanted to love this concept—but I couldn’t. These convertible shoes were uncomfortable, bordering on painful, and it was a total pain to switch from heels to flats and back again.
