On October 4, REI announced that it has officially split from Black Friday. Given the outdoor recreation retailer’s choice to keep its doors closed on Thanksgiving as part of its #OptOutside campaign launched seven years ago, this separation may not come as a total shock for some, but the ripple effect is certain to be felt by all shoppers, because that means if you plan on scouring some discounts from REI, you’d better start now.
