We Tested One of Amazon’s Best-Selling Pet Cameras. It’s Lousy.

The top result on Amazon isn’t always the best choice—sometimes it’s the worst. In my reporting on the best pet cameras for Wirecutter, I found that to be the case with the cams I tested. If you search Amazon for “pet camera,” the Tooge Pet Camera is one of the first things to pop up. It initially seems to be a great option for remotely interacting with or spying on your pets—after all, it’s just $30, and it has more than 2,000 reviews and four stars. But in testing, it was a huge downgrade from our picks, the Wyze Cam v2 and the Petcube Bites 2. The Tooge’s video and audio quality are poor, camera panning is tedious, and motion detection is stressful to use.
